Situated in the heart of the village, owned and run by our community, the village shop provides a great service to residents, visitors and tradespeople alike. Not only is it a great convenience store for those things you run out of - or forgot to buy in your weekly shop - it’s great for people who don’t have transport and rely on the shop for more ‘regular shops’. It’s a small shop but we sell a wide variety of goods including bread and milk, dairy products, groceries, fruit and vegetables, local free-range eggs, alcohol, soft drinks and an impressive selection of sweet, biscuits and snacks.
Stebbing-branded chutneys, jams and preserves, cakes and biscuits are very popular and make great gifts as well as being very delicious. Stamps, greetings cards, gift wrap and some stationery items are on sale. Newspapers can be ordered in store and picked up in store on a daily basis. In addition, we have regular deliveries from two local farms; Great Garnetts and Priors Hall saving residents the need to drive to Barnston or Lindsell for their sausages, bacon, ham and free-range meats.
Tradespeople, residents and walkers alike welcome our takeaway service of freshly- made sandwiches, hot sausage rolls, pasties etc, good quality coffee and hot drinks and home-made cakes.
The shop is run by a friendly group of volunteers, ably managed by Julie Gray. It’s great to be part of providing such a key service to the community. We really need new volunteers so please.....
